How to install openerp 6.1 on Ubuntu 11.1

Openerp recently released its 6.1 version , which is far ahead than its previous version 6.03 ,So farmy experience with 6.1 is awesome and I m sure it will create a dent in SAP market

Installation Guide

Step 1 : First You  need to update your apt sourcelist

open terminal and run this

:                   sudo nano  /etc/apt/source.list

add following lines into source.list

# openerp nightly build
deb http://nightly.openerp.com/6.1/nightly/deb/ ./

 

Step 2 :Run following command:

sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install openerp

Now your new openerp-server has installed , but u need to do some configuration , For configuration run following command

cd /etc/openerp/

nano openerp-server.conf

now make this file content similar to this

addons_path = /usr/lib/pymodules/python2.7/openerp/addons
admin_passwd = admin
assert_exit_level = error
cache_timeout = 100000
csv_internal_sep = ,

db_maxconn = 64

and save this file .

Now your openerp -server is fully ready , u just need to install web-client to access it

Step 1:
Download latest version of setuptools [http://pypi.python.org/pypi/setuptools#files]
then run this
sh setuptools-0.6c9-py2.7.egg , note file name will be depend on version
Download webclient from this link

http://bazaar.launchpad.net/~openerp/openerp-web/trunk/revision/2163?start_revid=2163

click on download tarball

after download run this

sudo tar xvf <filename>
cd openerp-web/trunk
python setup.py install

Now your openerp-webclient is installed

now you only need to create a posetgre user

su - postgres
createuser --createdb --no-createrole --pwprompt openerp
Enter password for new role: .....
Enter it again: .....
Shall the new role be a superuser? (y/n) y

now open a new terminal
and run this
sudo -u openerp openerp-server

now start the openerp-server by running this : /etc/inii.d/openerp-server start

and start openerp-web-client by first go to the openerp-web folder than run pyhton opererp-web.py

now in your browser open : http://localhost:8002

    Hi,

    Just followed your steps and when executing python setup.py install

    I get
    Traceback (most recent call last):
    File “setup.py”, line 5, in
    from setuptools import setup, find_packages
    ImportError: No module named setuptools

    And I cannot continue. Any help ? Thanks.

    Hello Juan , first of all sorry for late reply ,actually i was quite busy .
    just Install setup tool from here :http://pypi.python.org/pypi/setuptools
